We spent a weekend in the air...
... and didn't even get a lousy t-shirt for it. We did, however, get two pair of grey Qantas socks for it... each. And really, uneventful as the flight was, time passed fairly quickly. At least that's the official story. Whether or not we would do it again remains to be seen.
Arrived in Melbourne late last night, we immediately checked into the airport hotel, since our flight for Hobart wasn't until 9 hours later next morning. Intermmittently dozed of during the night before the alarm bell rang, which meant it was time to get up, approx 2 hours before the flight was supposed to leave, and the airport was a 5 minute walk away, so no worries. Or so we thought...
Got to the self check in counter, and for some reason couldn't check in. So, we asked for assistance, and turns out the reason we couldn't check in was that the flight was leaving 1 hour earlier than we thought, and it was already boarding! Crikey! Managed to do a last second check in, ran through the entire airport (which to be fair isn't all that big), and got to the gate just in time.
Flight to Hobart was a lot shorter than we thought, only about 1 hour, which was a nice break from the two previous monster flights. Right now we are waiting to check into the hostel we are staying at, and will spend the day exploring the city. We'll have another day in Hobart before renting a car and heading out of the city.
PS: Provided with our vast experience of hostels around the world, we have now learned to recognize the all too familiar colours that these habitats of travellers are painted in. Whether the yellow, blue, orange, red and green colours that are painted all over the hostel are meant to lure the unsuspecting travellers into checking in, and perhaps never checking out, or not is not entirely clear at this moment. As they say: You can check in, but you can never leave.
PSS: The above is supposed to be read with a thick brittish, or Imperial if you will, accent.
