Tokyo &Cairns
Crikey its a Cyclone!
Arrived in Cairns early, at 4 in the morning, just to find out that Cairns and parts of the East Coast had been hit by a cyclon the morning before. Parts of Cairns are without electricity, and we are hoping that the buses are able to run to get us out of here by thursday. As it is now, no buses are getting through anywhere.
Tomorrow we'll start off early with a trip to two outer reef sites for 4 hours snorkling, with a helicopter trip back to the main land at 4 pm. Looking forward to that!
Hello Kitty from Tokyo
Tokyo, which we spent one and a half day in, was fantastically crazy. Apparently the favourite past time of off work japanese people on sunday evenings is to crowd together in large, noisy, gaming halls, playing games which we couldnt quite figure out. We spent most of the time in the districts Shibuya and Shinjuku, which were the shopping district and the nightlife district. True to the "myth" there were neon signs everywhere (pictures will be uploaded soon).
We ate delicious and very cheap sushi (2x8 pieces 70 kr (10$)). We saw practically no tourists at all, which was very nice. Even though we only spent two days in Tokyo it feels like we managed to see quite a lot and get a grip of the city. It is definately a place worth visiting again for a longer period of time. Despite all the tales of Tokyo being expensive, in fact it was not!
The Tokyo subway system was a challenge of its own. Click the link, watch the map and take an aspirin.
All is well so far, although we are a bit tired. We havent had that much sleep in these 3 days. Tonight we are gonna chill and decide where we are gonna go after Cairns. We have to get up early tomorrow morning, so we need some rest.
Buh-bye then.
